What is Electronic Waste?
With the advancement of technology, electronic products are used both at home and in workplaces, making life easier. Used electronic products that have reached the end of their life cycle are called electronic waste.
Electronic waste poses a significant threat to the environment and human health due to the heavy metals they contain. At our Serhat Waste factory, electronic waste is subjected to pre-treatment for recovery.
Can Electronic Waste Be Recycled?
Waste electrical and electronic equipment is broken down by hand or crushing machines in pre-treatment facilities, separating components such as metal, plastic, glass, etc. These separated parts are sent to recovery facilities where each material's recovery is achieved.
How are Electronic Wastes Evaluated?
At our Serhat Waste factory, waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) will first undergo pre-separation on a table for parts such as plastic, metal, cables, motherboards, asbestos-containing parts, ceramic fiber parts, fluorescent lamps, etc.
Coarse electronic waste can be broken down into smaller sizes by a crushing machine. With this system, components derived from electronic waste, such as iron, metal, and plastic, will be completely separated and reduced to their smallest form.
Electronic Waste Regulation
The Regulation on the Control of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, which is in force with the Official Gazette dated 22.05.2012 and numbered 28300, regulates legal and technical principles related to limiting the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment for the protection of the environment and human health from the production to the final disposal of electrical and electronic equipment, defining applications exempted from these limitations, controlling the import of electrical and electronic equipment, and reducing the generation and disposal of electrical and electronic waste through reuse, recycling, and recovery methods and targets.
